Another Week of Dam Labor
We continue to marvel at the dedication of our volunteers. Even through rainstorms, we have had volunteers out sandbagging almost every day.
Speaking of storms, each one seems to find a weak spot in the temporary dam. Each morning after a storm, our staff looks for the telltale sign of a breach in the dam: low pond water. We have successfully fixed the damage from each rain storm, and we continue to build our temporary dam.
To date, we have logged 186 volunteer hours (!) and filled 2,700 sandbags with 61.5 tons of sand.
Construction on the permanent dam is set to begin on Thursday, June 5th. Keep watching The Dam Blog for more updates!
