Newlin Grist Mill and Wild Birds Unlimited-Concordville are teaming up to explore the wonderful world of bird life. Join us for monthly naturalist-led walks through the 160-acre park at Newlin Grist Mill. We will meet year-round residents, visit exciting migrants, and learn the basics of bird identification and biology.
Families and beginners are welcome!

When: last Saturday of each month; Nov.-Mar., 9-11am; Apr.-Oct., 8-10am

Where: meet at the NGM Visitor Center

Cancelled--History at Work

Get a closer look at trades of the eighteenth century in Newlin’s “History at Work” series. Members of Newlin Grist Mill’s staff, volunteers, and outside artisans will demonstrate their crafts and talk with visitors about how different trades and skills were integral to life in colonial Pennsylvania and to the operation of Newlin Grist Mill. These demonstrations take place on the last Saturday of the month from April through October between 10am and 3pm.

“History at Work” is free and open to the public of all ages.

Join Newlin’s staff naturalist for an afternoon of exciting environmental activities. Look for the pop-up naturalist on the bridge by the Log Cabin and discover the plants and animals that call Newlin home. While specific activities will vary by theme, you can expect to find interactive demonstrations, live specimens, games and crafts, and fun for the whole family!

In 2020, our naturalist will pop-up from 1pm to 5pm on the following Saturdays:

April 25:  Frogs & Toads
May 30:  Perfect Pollinators
June 27:  Tiny Pond Life
July 25:  Crazy Camouflage
August 29: Dancing Dragonflies
September 26:  Terrific Turtles
October 31:  Fall Colors

The Pop-Up Naturalist program is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to ongoing concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Newlin Series programs have gone virtual. The presentation will be free to the public, but attendees must register ahead of time through Zoom. 

Newlin Grist Mill’s director Tony Shahan and programs manager Laura Adie will talk about the process of documenting, restoring, and furnishing the original kitchen and pantry of the Trimble House in order to accurately interpret foodways on site.
