Get a closer look at trades of the eighteenth century in Newlin’s “History at Work” series. Members of Newlin Grist Mill’s staff, volunteers, and outside artisans will demonstrate their crafts and talk with visitors about how different trades and skills were integral to life in colonial Pennsylvania and to the operation of Newlin Grist Mill.
This year, we’re focusing on foodways and coordinating the demonstrations with our Newlin Series talks:
- June 10th – Early German-American cookery with Dr. Clarissa F. Dillon (10am-3pm)
- August 26th – 18th-century mushroom dishes with Laura Adie & Tony Shahan
- September 23rd – Receipts from American Cookery with Pamela Cooley (10am-2pm)
- October 28th – 18th-century Dairying with Laura Adie (10am-3pm)
Demonstrations take place in the Trimble House Kitchen. Free and open to the public of all ages.
