Field Trips

PLEASE NOTE: Due to recent flood damage combined with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are not scheduling onsite field trips for Fall 2020. Please check back soon for virtual field trip opportunities!

Newlin Grist Mill welcomes school groups and home school groups for field trips. We offer a wide variety of interdisciplinary hands-on tours, demonstrations, and programs that are adaptable to different curricula, age groups (preschool through high school), and educator needs. Combine topics in history, technology, nature, or environmental studies for a unique field trip experience designed just for your students. All field trip activities are aligned with Pennsylvania educational standards in history, science and technology, biological and physical sciences, ecology, and watersheds and wetlands. Field trips integrate the special historical and natural resources of Newlin Grist Mill to create important opportunities for learning and fun.

Depending on group size and length of time available for a field trip, teachers should choose between four to six different activities that meet their teaching and curriculum needs. Call 610.459.2359 or email ladie@newlingristmill.org to schedule and for pricing.

Newlin Grist Mill’s trails are open!

There are a few changes you need to be aware of before you visit:

  1. Open hours are 7am to 5pm. New gates have been installed at the entrance to Newlin Grist Mill. These gates will be unlocked at 7am and locked at 5pm daily. Please keep this in mind when visiting the park.
  2. Repair work is ongoing and not all trails are currently open. While the worst of the damage has been repaired, use caution and please be mindful of marked trails that remain closed while repairs continue.
  3. The parking lot by the log cabin will remain closed or partially blocked off, as we continue to work on completing repairs.
  4. Restrooms, visitor center, and historic buildings are still closed. Please be patient as we work to rebuild the visitor center and make repairs to our historic buildings.
  5. Please be respectful of our staff and volunteers as they work on repairs throughout the park.
