Park Rules

Newlin Grist Mill is proud of its commitment to preserve both history and nature while making our 160-acre park free to those who come to enjoy it. The following rules were put in the place for the safety of the plants, animals, and historic structures that we protect, as well as our visitors.

  • Please do not disturb the plants and animals on the site. The flowers, trees, grass, shrubs, rocks, and all animals are part of the environment that we protect. Please leave them for others to enjoy.
  • For the safety of those using the trails, ATVs and horses are prohibited from the trails.
  • Please pick up after your pets and make sure that all pets are on leashes.
  • Fires are only permitted in BBQ grills or by special arrangement and approved in writing. If you are given written permission to utilize a fire pit, please make sure the fire is safely extinguished.
  • Wading (by humans or animals) in the mill race, stream, or ponds is not permitted. The mill race is part of the historic water system that operates the mill. Wading in the mill race prevents the mill from properly operating and causes damage.
  • Our ponds and stream house diverse ecological systems that are protected and under scientific study. Wading in these areas disturbs the study areas and damages wildlife habitat. Plants and animals should not be disturbed or removed from the property.
  • Alcoholic beverages are strictly forbidden.
  • Please help us keep Newlin Grist Mill beautiful. Please put all trash and recyclables in designated receptacles. Please help us keep our trails clean by picking up trash along our trails.
  • Be respectful of others and avoid amplified music.
  • Park only in designated parking areas.
